Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo ensures that police institution fully support and ready to secure all series of U17 World Cup events in Indonesia.
This was conveyed by the Police General after an audience with the Chair of All Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) Erick Thohir at Police Grand Headquarters on Tuesday, September 19th, 2023.
“Regarding the event, we as the host of U17 World Cup truly welcomes this opportunity and stands ready to conduct security operations. We have been informed that there will be 24 states participate in this prestigious tournament,” says Sigit.
According to him, optimal security operations will be carried out by police ranks as this would be the first time Indonesia hosts the U17 World Cup tournament. Due to this, the Police General himself has asked various questions in detail regarding the event as he committed to implement security operations in accordance to FIFA standard.
Moreover, Sigit says, INP will also directly assess the stadium arena for U17 World Cup match.
“We want also want to devise contingency plan on how to evacuate and rescue operations on players, officials, spectators. To do this, together we will go and assess the stadiums while also train our forces to carry out the operations in the stadium,” adds Sigit.
Sigit emphasized that in principle, INP will conduct security operations on all series of U17 World Cup events optimally for the good name of Indonesia.
On the other hand, Erick Thohir, as the committee of U17 World Cup, has conveyed everything regarding the international event and asked for recommendation and suggestion from the police.
“Particularly to the Police General regarding the U17 World Cup that will begin at November 10th. President of FIFA will also come here at November 9th to have several activities with the President,” said Erick after conveyed the details of the event.
