inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto asked the Indonesian National Police (INP) to continue adapting to changing crime modes due to technological advances and the threat they pose to the country.
He reminded that the challenges Indonesia currently faces are not getting any easier, stemming from global conflict and tensions, as well as increasingly sophisticated criminal modus operandi.
"Threats are changing; technology can also be used for malicious purposes. Therefore, our work methods must also adapt," said President Prabowo on Wednesday (7/1/2026).
President Prabowo highlighted several crimes that pose a threat to the Indonesian nation, including the distribution and use of narcotics, online gambling, human trafficking, cybercrime, terrorism, and smuggling.
Further challenges include the continued discovery of illegal mining and plantation activities. White-collar crime, which is criminal activity carried out for financial gain by perpetrators from the business world or government officials, is also still present.
However, President Prabowo also appreciated the collaboration between INP and other ministries/institutions in addressing these various types of crime.
"But I appreciate the success of INP, along with other institutions, in continuously uncovering and revealing thousands of narcotics cases. Together with Komdigi (Communication and Digital Ministry), we have eradicated online gambling and successfully maintained a zero-terrorism incident record over the past few years," he explained.
President Prabowo reminded that these achievements should not make INP complacent.
"The challenges remain enormous. Our people still suffer from poverty, and this poverty is a direct result of corruption, smuggling, and illegal economic activities," President Prabowo concluded.
