inp.polri.go.id - The South Korean police have officially started an investigation into the alleged plot to assassinate President Yoon Suk Yeoi. Local officials revealed that the investigation has started from Sunday (7/8). The investigation took place after netizens found the plot on the internet and reported it to the police at around 09.50 local time. The post titled 'How to Kill Yoon Suk Yeol' was uploaded on an internet community site at around 08.21 local time. There is no information about the author of the article. However, the uploader stated that all the ways to assassinate the new South Korean president “is ready” and he is now asking for some money to carry out the assassination plot. The post was later reported to the police in downtown Daejeon by netizens. Daejeon is located about 150 kilometers from Seoul. As reported by Yonhap on Sunday (7/8), the police are currently tracking down the author of the plot. Yoon Suk Yeol is the president of South Korea who has served to replace Moon Jae-in since May 2022. Before becoming the president of South Korea, Yoon started his career as a prosecutor at the age of 35. The cases he handled were fairly heavy when he handled An Hee-jung and Kang Geum-won in the presidential election funding scandal. He faced a similar case again when he was assigned to investigate the interference of the National Intelligence Services (NIS) in the 2012 presidential election. In 2016, Yoon was again faced with a high-profile case when he was appointed to lead an investigation into the corruption case of the then South Korean President, Park Geun-hye. Until 2019 South Korean President Moon Jae-in entrusted Yoon as the local Attorney General because he was considered to have high integrity in laws. However, he was criticized during his campaign and stated that he wanted to abolish the Ministry of Gender Equality if he was elected president. In The Guardian's report, Yoon said the ministry treated men as "suspected sexual criminals". He promised to apply harsh penalties for false cases of sexual assault.
