The victim's attorney, Bambang Soetjipto, said that the customers were scammed up to billions of rupiah. "There are dozens of victims who appointed us as attorneys, but from the information we received the number of victims was in the hundreds," he explained. Bambang Soetjipto said the company made investments similar to bank deposits with the promise of high interest rates and capital security guarantees placed in several business fields. However, after maturity, the victims cannot get their deposit money back. "They were promised with very high interest rates of deposits above the average of regular banking which is 12% per year. Various prizes are also offered, such as traveling abroad," explained Bambang Soetjipto. Bambang Soetjipto said that in August 2019 one of the customers was contacted by an agent with an offer of a high-interest deposit and convinced the victim by explaining to the reporter that the company's total assets amounted to Rp8 trillion. “Believing what was said by the agents, the victim then placed their initial deposits of Rp500 millions, and the agent arrange the meeting between the victim and the leader of PT Corpus,” he explained. Other than high deposits, the victim was also promised two tickets of tour to Japan. However, after a few days, the agent contacted the victim and said that the victim will get another free tickets to Japan if they add another deposits. "The total funds deposited by customers are Rp1.5 billion. During the promised period, the victims only received one to two deposit interest payments in 2019. By 2020, they have not received any interest until now," he explained. Bambang Soetjipto explained that from the results of the examination, there are other customers who experienced the same story with PT. Corpus. "There are currently 29 known creditors with total losses reaching billions of rupiah," he explained.
