Inp.polri.go.id - Denpasar. The Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) reported on Saturday (28/2/2026) that over a thousand Australian tourists have canceled their visits to Bali following a week of extreme weather and devastating floods.
"In Badung alone, which is the tourism epicenter, the cancellations from Australia have already exceeded a thousand, and we are concerned about potential travel warnings," said PHRI Bali Deputy Chairman I Gusti Ngurah Rai Suryawijaya. as cited by antaranews.com
The flooding, which hit tourism hubs like Kuta and Legian in Badung Regency particularly hard, has sparked international concern. Local businesses have reported significant revenue losses as potential visitors monitor reports of evacuations and submerged infrastructure across the island's southern districts.
Despite Bali being named the World’s Best Destination 2026, current hotel occupancy has stagnated at 60%. PHRI is now urging the Bali administration to implement concrete solutions, such as river normalization, to prevent further economic losses and protect Bali’s global reputation from deteriorating due to recurring seasonal floods.
