Inp.polri.go.id - Denpasar.  The Denpasar District Court in Bali has sentenced 40-year-old Palestinian man Mohammed FM Hamayda to two years and six months in prison for the illegal possession of various narcotics. 

The court found the defendant guilty of illegally possessing and storing Category I narcotics in both non-plant and plant forms during the sentencing hearing on Thursday (5/3/2026), as cited by antaranews.com. The verdict followed a raid on his boarding house where authorities discovered a diverse stash of illegal substances.

In addition to the prison term, the court imposed a fine of Rp 200 million. Failure to pay within one month will result in the seizure of his assets or an additional 80 days of imprisonment. The sentence was lighter than the Prosecutor's demand of four years and six months, with judges citing the defendant's clean record and expressed remorse as mitigating factors.

The case originated in July 2025 when National Narcotics Agency (BNNP) officers raided Hamayda's residence in Kerobokan, Badung. During the search, officers recovered 0.27 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 1.55 grams of ecstasy pills, 10.96 grams of marijuana, a digital scale, and drug paraphernalia. The defendant's legal team is currently considering whether to appeal the ruling.
