Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian Military (TNI) is in the planning phase of strengthening its defense posture across all three service branches, the Army, Navy, and Air Force, according to TNI Head of Information Center Major General Freddy Ardianzah.

“The proposed formation of 750 combat battalions, five fleet commands, and a space unit under the Air Defense Command remains under planning and will align with national defense policies,” he said on Monday (3/11/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.

Chief Freddy explained the effort aims to enhance Indonesia’s deterrence capability and safeguard national sovereignty under the 2025–2029 defense posture plan.

The Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs previously discussed the initiative under the Optimum Essential Force (OEF) concept, mandated by the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) 2025–2029.

The plan includes strengthening border defenses, expanding maritime commands, modernizing naval vessels, and establishing 33 radar units and a new space defense division under the Air Force.
