Inp.polri.go.id - Serang. The Serang City Sub-regional Police in Banten have launched an investigation into the illegal dumping of hazardous medical waste (B3) in Walantaka district after residents discovered piles of toxic waste near a public cemetery.
The investigation, conducted by the Special Crime Unit of the Serang City Police, was based on an official report filed on 15 October 2025.
“This investigation began after residents found suspected medical waste illegally dumped in a vacant lot near Graha Walantaka housing,” said Serang City Police Chief Senior Superintendent Yudha Satria on Sunday (19/10/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
Witnesses reported that two large trucks arrived at the site late at night on 10 October 12025 claiming to deliver wooden pallets. After unloading, the materials were found to be hazardous medical waste. A local scavenger even sorted through the waste for plastic parts before police secured the area.
Authorities have sealed off the site and are tracing those responsible for the illegal disposal.
