Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Trade Budi Santoso announced on Tuesday (5/11/2024) that e-commerce platforms could face sanctions if they list the iPhone 16 or Google Pixel for sale, as these smartphones are yet to be approved by the government.
“E-commerce platforms are routinely monitored. If any are found selling the iPhone 16 or Google Pixel, we’ll take necessary action,” he said.
The Ministry of Trade has banned online sales of these devices, as they do not currently meet Indonesia’s Domestic Content Requirement (TKDN). Minister Budi Santoso said that inspection teams would be deployed if platforms fail to comply.
He advised journalists to contact the Ministry of Industry for specific regulatory details, noting that although iPhone 16 units have entered Indonesia through travelers and shipping services, these devices are not permitted for resale in the country.
