Inp.polri.go.id - Sidoarjo. Two women face the death penalty after being arrested for smuggling 8.26 kilograms of crystal meth and 10,000 ecstasy pills.
The suspects, identified as ARF (22) and WLN (27), were arrested by Sidoarjo City Sub-regional Police in collaboration with the East Java National Narcotics Agency (BNNP).
“They are charged under Law No. 35/2009 on Narcotics, carrying a maximum sentence of death, life imprisonment, or 20 years in prison, and up to an Rp8 billion fine,” said Senior Superintendent Christian Tobing, the Sidoarjo Police Chief, on Tuesday (21/10/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
The arrests followed an investigation after police intercepted a drug shipment at Juanda International Airport in September. Further operations led to the arrests in Tangerang and Jakarta, where officers seized a total of Rp 9.2 billion worth of narcotics.
East Java BNNP Chief Brigadier General Budi Mulyanto said both women were part of a Southeast Asian drug network operating across Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, and Indonesia.
