Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The United States Embassy in Jakarta on Wednesday (17/12/2025) handed over 184 units of information technology equipment to Indonesia’s Maritime Security Agency (Bakamla), or Indonesia coast guard, to enhance maritime surveillance and supply chain security in national waters.
The 26 types of equipment will support a more advanced fusion center at Bakamla, improving coastal monitoring across Indonesia’s vast maritime domain and strengthening efforts to prevent illegal trade. The assistance is also expected to help safeguard strategic sea lanes and global supply chains vital to the Indo-Pacific economy.
U.S. Chargé d’Affaires ad interim Peter Haymond said the handover reflects the strong U.S.–Indonesia partnership in promoting a free, open, and secure Indo-Pacific. He emphasized Washington’s commitment to working with Indonesia to combat transnational maritime crime and protect freedom of navigation, as reported by antaranews.com
Bakamla Chief Vice Admiral Irvansyah said the assistance would significantly bolster Bakamla’s capacity for maritime security, safety, and law enforcement across Indonesia’s more than 54,000 kilometers of coastline.
