Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesia will not be subject to the US import tariffs set to take effect on 1 August 2025, according to Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto.
“Indonesia has already made a deal with the US. So for countries like the UK, Vietnam, China, and Indonesia, the tariffs no longer apply as of 1 August 2025,” he said on Monday (21/7/2025), as reported by antaranews.com.
The new deal includes a revised tariff rate of 19%, down from the initially proposed 32%, and covers energy and agriculture purchases, along with a planned acquisition of 50 Boeing aircraft.
However, Minister Airlangga clarified that the Garuda Indonesia–Boeing deal remains under negotiation.
“The purchase is in the business-to-business negotiation phase between Boeing and Garuda,” he said.
The baseline 10% tariff on all trading partners remains, while Indonesia continues to seek 0% tariffs on key exports such as palm oil, coffee, cocoa, and nickel.
