Vice Chairperson of People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR), Ahmad Muzani, gave his highest appreciation for Indonesian National Police’s Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) in uncovering international drugs syndicate. The drug networks were taken down thanks to cooperation three police forces from Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand.
“This was a difficult task that was perfectly handled by the INP Criminal Investigation Agency. Although the main culprit is still on the run, his drug networks around the city have been successfully taken down with huge amount of evidence,” said the Gerindra Secretary General.
INP Criminal Investigation Agency, along with the Royal Thai Police, the Royal Malaysian have disclosed the biggest drug networks in Southeast Asia. The syndicate, under the kingpin named Fredy Pratama, also known as Miming or Casanova, have operate meticulously in smuggling the drugs.
During the Criminal Investigation Agency conference press, Commissioner General Wahyu Widada presents 10.6 tons of methamphetamine and 116,000 ecstasy pills, confiscated from the syndicate. Officials also claims that 25 suspects involved in the syndicate were arrested in various cities, along with IDR 6.5 billion of cash and a balance of IDR 28.7 billion from various banks accounts.
Data from PPATK shows that they have detected a transaction back from 2020 reached IDR 10.5 trillion.
The Indonesian National Police also confiscates assets allegedly as money laundering medium such as hotels in South Kalimantan, Lampung, North Sumatra.
“Most importantly, there are almost 50 million people, particularly the young people, saved from dozen tons of drugs confiscated by the police,” said Muzani when met in Bandung, West Java.
