inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto has requested that Way Kambas National Park in Lampung receive special attention in forest and land fire management after hotspots were discovered in the conservation area.

In a meeting on forest and land fire management in Pekanbaru, Riau, he stated that forest and land fire management should not only focus on Kalimantan but also include attention to conservation areas in Lampung.

"I also ask that Lampung be given attention. The Way Kambas National Park is also our focus. I received reports that there are hotspots there," President Prabowo said, as reported by the Presidential Secretariat in Jakarta on Monday (8/24/2026).

According to President Prabowo, Way Kambas is an important conservation area that serves as an elephant habitat and needs to be protected because it is one of the last elephant protected areas in Sumatra.

"That's our conservation park for elephants. We must properly care for the last elephants in Sumatra," he said.

President Prabowo also requested that hotspot management be carried out as early as possible to prevent them from developing into fires and spreading.

On the same occasion, the Head of State also requested that forest and land fire management in West Kalimantan be given priority, as the situation there is considered more severe.

He instructed the deployment of forces to expedite forest and land fire management in several areas.
