Inp.polri.go.id - West Bandung. More than 600 students in West Java have fallen ill in two separate mass food poisoning incidents linked to the government’s Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program.
The latest case on Wednesday (24/9/2025) affected 220 students in Cipongkor district after lunch packages were distributed.
“Most of the victims have received medical treatment at local hospitals, both public and private,” said Acting Head of the West Bandung Health Office, Lia N. Sukandar, adding that investigations are underway to determine the exact cause.
Local health authorities reported the meals were prepared at a state-run nutrition service kitchen in Pasirsaji village. Victims, many of them vocational high school students, suffered nausea and vomiting, according to antaranews.com.
The West Bandung Health Office confirmed a total of 631 cases in Cipongkor since Monday, when 411 students were first hospitalized. Officials said the MBG program, which is designed to improve child nutrition nationwide, will be reviewed in light of the repeated poisoning incidents.
