West Kalimantan Police Successfully Revealed the Case of Subsidized Diesel Fuel Abuse

inp.polri.go.id - The Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimsus) of West Kalimantan Police (Polda Kalbar) revealed the misuse of subsidized diesel fuel which cost the state around Rp10 billion. "This disclosure started from January to May 2022, with 19 police reports and the crime scene across the West Kalimantan region. A total of two cases have been P-21 and 17 cases are in the process of being investigated," explained Head of Sub-Directorate 4 of Ditreskrimsus Polda Kalbar, Commissioner Yasir Ahmadi in Pontianak, Wednesday (01/06/22). Kompol Yasir Ahmadi explained that from the 19 crime scenes his party arrested 24 people whose now are suspects. "Of the 24 suspects, five suspects were arrested by the Ditreskrimsus Polda Kalbar, while the other 19 suspects were arrested by the Directorate of Water Police," said the Intermediate Officer of the West Kalimantan Police. The evidence that was confiscated was 54,180 liters of diesel fuel, then one motorboat, five trucks, 20 other vehicles used as a means of transportation, as well as other evidence in the form of pumps, jerry cans, drums, cellphones and others. "The modus operandi of the suspects in misappropriating subsidized fuel includes hoarding diesel fuel for resale, then selling the diesel fuel to industry and mining, and including bringing the subsidized fuel without any documents," explained Commissioner Yasir Ahmadi The suspects are threatened with Article 55 of Law No. 22 of 2001 concerning Oil and Gas as amended in Article 55 of Law No. 11 of 2020 concerning Job Creation.
