Inp.polri.go.id - Padang. Brigadier General Edi Mardianto, Vice Chief of West Sumatra Regional Police, led the deployment ceremony for Operation Lilin Singgalang 2023 at the Imam Bonjol Field in Padang on Thursday (12/21/23). The event drew officials from West Sumatra Regional Police, along with religious and youth leaders, community figures, and representatives from diverse institutions. Ensuring a secure year-end celebration, emphasized by President Joko Widodo, he underscored the need for meticulous planning, particularly in transportation, supply, and distribution of essential goods for the annual Christmas and New Year events. "This year, the INP and stakeholders pinpointed traffic safety and public order concerns for year-end celebrations. We issued a crucial joint decree covering operational restrictions on cargo transport, traffic engineering, control of maritime traffic crossings, and travel delays. Precise understanding and implementation of this decree in the field are crucial," he explained.
Police Senior Superintendent Dwi Sulistyawan, Head of the West Sumatra Regional Police's Public Relations, revealed that 2,139 personnel from the West Sumatra Regional Police and 2,206 from other institutions will be deployed for Operation Lilin Singgalang 2023 to ensure security for Christmas 2023 and New Year 2024.
