inp.polri.go.id - Padang. The West Sumatra Regional Police Drugs Criminal Investigation Directorate held a press conference on the results of the disclosure of narcotics crime cases throughout September 2025 in the front yard of the West Sumatra Regional Police Headquarters, Tuesday (10/7/2025).

Led directly by the Director of Drugs Criminal Investigation, Senior Superintendent Wedy Mahadi, the press conference ended with the open termination of drugs evidence in the field.

In the activity, Wedy emphasized that drug crimes are “extraordinary crimes” that require serious attention from all parties.

“Thanks to the cooperation and collaboration between agencies,  we succeeded in disclosing 62 drug cases in September. This case disclosures are not only part of our police attention in busting drug crimes, but also part of our preventive effort according to the direction of the leadership,” says Wedy Mahadi.

Of the total cases, six cases have received a court order for the destruction of evidence, while four other cases are still in the process.

The Head of the West Sumatra BNNP Eradication Division, Senior Superintendent Ferry Herlambang, also expressed his appreciation for the collaboration with the West Sumatra BNNP.

"We have saved the people of West Sumatra from drug addiction, which is like a chronic disease. BNN RI data shows that the prevalence of drug use in West Sumatra has reached 1.1 percent, or around 70,000 people of the total population. This is proof of how serious this threat is," said the Director of the Sumba Regional Police Narcotics Research Unit.

Wedy emphasized the importance of rehabilitation, although he said it is difficult for 100 percent of addicts to fully return to normal, and urged all parties to continue coordinating.
