"There are two levels of movement that Indonesia hopes can capitalize on the demographic bonus and achieve Golden Indonesia," said Secretary of Population and Family Development Ministry Budi Setiyono on Wednesday (8/10/2025).
According to him, the two movements are ensuring the quality of 70 percent of the productive population aged 15-65 years or 196 million people are guaranteed, have no history of stunting, have an adequate level of education of at least 12 years, and have competency certification accepted by the market.
Second, the government is bringing investment and creating adequate jobs that can be filled by the productive-age population. Efforts to create jobs include the Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG) and the Red and White Village Cooperative.
At the strategic level, he continued, the government is promoting strategic programs through large-scale investments that support downstreaming through Danantara.
"So that they can be productive and can contribute through taxes or in other forms, then Indonesia will experience an accelerated economic growth rate that may be above eight percent," said Budi Setiyono.
The Ministry of Education and Culture noted that a demographic surplus in Indonesia occurred from 2012 until an estimated 2045.
Through the acceleration of population and family development programs, he believes that Indonesia is currently on the path to becoming the next developed country in Asia, such as Japan, South Korea, and Singapore.
