inp.polri.go.id - Condolences immediately flowed from world leaders after the former Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe, was shot while campaigning in Nara today, Friday (8/7). Prime Minister of Australia, Anthonya Albanese, expressed his sadness via Twitter. "Shocking news from Japan that former PM Shinzo Abe was shot. Our sympathies go out to the family and people of Japan at a time like this," wrote Albanese. Albanese's predecessor, former PM Scott Morrison, also expressed his condolences via Facebook. He considers Abe as one of the most important world leaders. "I am deeply saddened to hear of reports of an alleged attack on former Japanese PM Shinzo Abe. PM Abe was a good and wise friend to Australia and one of the most important postwar global leaders," Morrison wrote. Another former Australian PM, Malcolm Turnbull, also sent his prayers for Abe in a tweet. "Sad to hear the bad news from Japan. Shinzo Abe is one of the greatest leaders of all time. Now we must hope and pray that he survives," Turnbull wrote. The United States Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, also expressed deep concern about Abe's condition after the shooting. "Our thoughts and prayers are with him, his family, and the people of Japan. This is a very, very sad moment. We are waiting for news from Japan," he said on the sidelines of the G20 meeting in Bali. Former President Donald Trump also expressed his condolences through the social network Truth Social. "So sad to hear the news of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe of Japan. A great leader has been shot and is in very serious condition," Trump wrote. Trump said that “Abe was a good friend of mine, and most importantly, [a good friend of] America,” he said. "This is a huge blow to the Japanese people, who love and admire him so much. We all pray for Shinzo and his family."
