Inp.polri.go.id - Yogyakarta. The Yogyakarta Regional Police Traffic Directorate will equip officers with body-worn cameras in 2025 to enhance electronic law enforcement and ensure professional conduct.
Yogyakarta Police Director of Traffic Police Senior Superintendent Yuswanto Ardi said Thursday (13/2/2025) that the initiative aims to improve data collection and analysis for more effective policing.
Officers will also use dashboard cameras in patrol vehicles, both integrated with the existing electronic traffic law enforcement (ETLE) system. This will expand monitoring beyond fixed cameras, allowing real-time enforcement in previously unmonitored areas.
Chief Ardi hopes the system will incorporate automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) to streamline license plate identification.
"Manual ticketing will be eliminated, and all enforcement will be electronic," he said, as quoted by antaranews.com.
The rollout will be phased, prioritizing frontline officers. The final number of devices is still under review.
