Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Coordinating Minister for Community Empowerment Abdul Muhaimin Iskandar voiced concern that younger generations are turning away from farming and favoring civil service careers instead. 

“Farmers still suffer from low income and welfare. What’s more alarming, young people no longer want to be farmers. They want to become government employees,” he said on Monday (22/9/2025)< as reported by antaranews.com

MinisterMuhaimin stressed that the reluctance stems from farmers’ persistent struggles. He tied his remarks to National Farmers Day, highlighting farmers’ crucial role in sustaining food supplies despite hardship.

The minister said President Prabowo Subianto’s administration is pushing pro-farmer policies to improve welfare. His priorities include land ownership rights as a foundation for production, better access to fertilizers, seeds, irrigation, and infrastructure, and expanded market access.
