inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Transportation has confirmed that buses marked with a "red cross" sticker are deemed unfit for use and are prohibited from operating, as they could potentially endanger the safety of passengers and others on the road.
"The results of safety inspections on passenger vehicles can be seen visually through stickers affixed to the vehicle's windshield," said Yusuf Nugroho, Director of Road Transportation Facilities and Safety on Monday (2/9/2020).
Yusuf emphasized that vehicles that pass the ramp check will be given a sticker as a sign of compliance. Meanwhile, vehicles that do not meet administrative and technical requirements during the ramp check will be affixed with a red cross sticker.
"The public is asked to pay attention to the sticker affixed to the windshield of the vehicle they plan to ride or rent," he said.
Director Yusuf urged that if they encounter a vehicle with a red cross sticker, they should avoid it, as it indicates it does not meet safety requirements.
In addition to paying attention to the sticker affixed to the vehicle's windshield, Director Yusuf also urged the public to use the Ministry of Transportation's Mitra Darat application to check the condition of public transportation they plan to use.
In the Mitra Darat application, the public can find out the vehicle's safety status, including the validity period of the periodic inspection (KIR) and the validity period of the transportation operating permit or Supervision Card (KPS).
"To do this, access the application and enter the vehicle's license plate number, which will display the vehicle's safety status," said Director Yusuf.
