Inp.polri.go.id - Denpasar. Bali Regional Police have denied accusations that officers refused to handle a fraud report filed by a Turkish citizen at its Cyber Crime Directorate.

Bali Police Head of Public Relations Senior Superintendent Jansen Avitus Panjaitan clarified on Wednesday (8/1/2025) that the incident, which went viral on social media, was a misunderstanding.

The Turkish citizen, identified as Zaera, had visited the Cyber Crime Division office on Monday, accompanied by a Kuta Sub-regional Police officer, to report a fraud involving villa and yoga package rentals in Canggu.

“Officers did not reject the report but requested additional evidence to proceed,” said Chief Jansen, as quoted by antaranews.com.

Zaera claimed to have paid in full while in Turkey but encountered disputes over a location change. After being blocked by the villa’s admin on WhatsApp, Zaera sought a refund but received no response. Directed to the Cyber Crime Directorate for assistance, the evidence provided was deemed insufficient for a formal police report.

As of Wednesday, Zaera has not returned to submit the required evidence.
