The Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo and the Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) Head Taruna Ikrar signed on Friday (10/1/2025) a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to address criminal activities in food, beverage, drug, and cosmetic sectors.
"We are committed to tackling violations that threaten public safety related to food and drug quality," Chief Sigit said, as quoted by antaranews.com.
The MoU will be refined to strengthen enforcement efforts against offline and online violations.It aims also to curb the influence of unscrupulous actors, which has inflated drug prices due to expensive raw materials..
Taruna highlighted the need for synergy with the INP to combat these crimes effectively.
"We are committed to fight mafias affecting our mandate and have agreed to work closely with the INP for maximum support," he said.
