Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP)’s Criminal Investigation Agency’s Directorate of Crimes Against Women, Children, and Human Trafficking has reiterated its commitment to combating human trafficking through prevention, enforcement, and victim protection.
“Human trafficking is not merely a legal violation, it’s a crime against humanity that robs victims of their dignity and future,” said Brigadier General Nurul Azizah, the Director of the Human Trafficking and Child Protection Division, on Thursday (31/7/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
She said that human trafficking is a complex, transnational crime that requires coordinated multi-sectoral collaboration, not just isolated law enforcement efforts. The INP continue to strengthen cooperation with ministries and institutions, expand public education, and enhance investigator capacity in high-risk regions.
From January to June 2025, the police handled 189 human trafficking cases and rescued 556 victims, consisting of 260 women, 45 girls, 228 men, and 23 boys. Most cases involved illegal overseas employment (117 reports), followed by sexual exploitation (48) and child exploitation (24).
