Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police have uncovered a Malaysia-based international drug syndicate operating in North Jakarta, seizing 24.6 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine hidden in a Pluit apartment basement.
The suspect, identified as US (39), a resident of South Tangerang, was arrested Thursday eveningalong with 24 meth packages disguised in plastic durian wrappers to avoid detection.
“This operation was based on public tip-offs about large-scale drug circulation. After a month of surveillance, we confiscated 24.6 kilograms of meth hidden inside a car in the apartment basement,” said Metro Jaya Police Head of Narcotics Sub-Directorate II, Senior Inspector Parikhesit, on Friday (26/9/2025), as reported by antaranews.com.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the drugs were supplied by a Malaysian contact identified as J. The suspect admitted he was promised Rp 250 million (around USD 15,000) for distributing the meth. Police have detained suspect US and are expanding the investigation.
