Police Bust International Drug Rings, Golden Crescent

Inp.polri.go.id - Riau. The Drug Criminal Investigation Directorate of Riau Regional Police uncovers international drugs network allegedly controlled by inmates inside a prison.

In the operation, police has named two suspects with the evidence of 1,064 grams of meth from the  drugs international network of Golden Crescent.

The Director of the Drugs Criminal Investigation Unit, Senior Superintendent Putu Yudha Prawira says that his party busted two drug activities in different locations, which is Pekanbaru, Riau, and Lubuk Linggau, South Sumatra.

The operation began on Friday (1/17/2025) with an arrest on Jenderal Sudirman street, Pekanbaru.

"The first suspect is ABR (37) who we arrested after we found 1,064 grams of meth in his bag. From our examination on the suspect, ABR says that he will deliver the drugs to someone in Lubuk Linggau," says Putu on Tuesday (1/21/2025).

On the next day, at Simpang Raya Restaurant, KM 4, Lubuk Linggau. Police arrested HAP (29) when he received the bag from ABR. HAP was coming with Toyota Fortuner to the location.

"We found that this network is linked to the Golden Crescent syndicate and controlled by an inmate from inside the prison. With this case reveal, we will conduct further investigation to reveal the whole network," explains Putu.

With the disclosure of 1,064 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, it is estimated that 5,320 people were saved from the drugs. The drugs also has an economic value of IDR 1,064,000,000.

The two suspects are now being charged with Article 114 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 112 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 paragraph (1) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics, with the threat of the death penalty or life imprisonment.
