Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) Inspector General for Supervision, Commissioner General Dedi Prasetyo, said on Thursday (7/2/2025) that police officers must maintain public trust, reminding them that they are part of the community.
Quoting British statesman Sir Robert Peel, he said, "The police are the public, and the public are the police. Officers must not see the public as adversaries."
Chief Dedi stressed that improving the INP’s reputation starts with a clean, transparent, and accountable recruitment process. He urged officials to clearly communicate that police recruitment is entirely free of charge.
“No one should think they need to pay to become a police officer. The process must be based on integrity,” Chief Dedi said, as quoted by antaranews.com.
With high applicant interest, he called for a rigorous selection process and a responsive complaint system to address public concerns, ensuring fair recruitment and reinforcing trust in the police force.
