Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Corrections Yusril Ihza Mahendra revealed that Reynhard Sinaga, convicted of multiple sexual assaults in the United Kingdom, may be sent to Indonesia’s high-security Nusakambangan prison if his transfer is approved.

“He must be placed in a maximum-security facility, and Nusakambangan is the only suitable option,” he said on Thursday (6/2/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.

The Indonesian government is in early talks with the UK about his possible return, exploring options such as prisoner exchange or transfer.

Raynhard, sentenced to life for assaulting 48 men, was recently attacked by another inmate in a UK prison, raising concerns over his safety. 

Minister Yusril emphasized that, despite public opinion, Indonesia is obliged to protect its citizens abroad.

Raynhard’s family has requested his return to Indonesia for further proceedings.
