inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Riau Island Regional Police has planted 30,000 corn seeds on the 1.5 hectares of land in Teluk Mata Ikan, Nongsa. The activity is set to be scheduled on January 21st.

The Head of Riau Island Regional Police Public Relations, Senior Superintendent Zahwani Pandra Arsyad says that the activity demonstrates the full support of national food self-sufficiency set by President Prabowo in his grand vision, Asta Cita program.

“We are inviting the local farmer group to manage these land fields with the mindset of empowering the community and ensuring the sustainability of the program," said Pandra on Friday (1/17/2025).

Pandra continues that his party will provide supervision and training related to good and correct corn cultivation techniques. This aims to increase productivity and quality of the harvest.

Previously, the Head of Riau Island Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Yan Fitri Halimansyah said food security is a key pillar in maintaining the stability of the country's economy.

"Through this effort, the Riau Islands Regional Police want to make a real contribution in realizing strong food security and creating productive land use," said the two-star general.

He also emphasized the importance of utilizing productive land in supporting food security, which also plays a role in economic development and environmental preservation.

He hopes that through this activity, the Riau Islands Regional Police can provide a positive example to the community in optimizing land use for food security, as well as improving the welfare of the community in general.
