inp.polri.go.id - Padang. Personnel from the West Sumatra Regional Police Mobile Brigade continue to demonstrate the Indonesian National Police (INP)'s commitment to supporting post-disaster recovery.
On Monday (1/5/2026), personnel from the West Sumatra Regional Police Mobile Brigade, led by First Police Inspector Ridesmon, began construction of temporary houses in Pauh District, Padang City.
The target for construction is 100 units spread across two construction sites. These shelters are intended to serve as temporary housing for disaster-affected communities while awaiting recovery and the construction of permanent housing.
According to developments on the ground, construction has reached 47 units. Work progress includes installing floorboards and constructing the building structure, which continues in stages according to established plans.
The Head of the Public Information Division of INP Public Relations Division, Senior Superintendent Erdi A. Chaniago, stated that police's involvement in the construction of the temporary shelters is part of INP's humanitarian mission to assist communities affected by the disaster.
"The construction of these temporary shelters demonstrates the police's presence in the community. We want to ensure that affected residents have adequate and safe housing during the post-disaster recovery period," said Erdi.
He added that INP will continue to collaborate with the local government and relevant parties to ensure the swift completion of the temporary shelters and their use by the community.
"We hope that all construction targets can be completed according to plan, thereby accelerating the recovery process and providing a sense of security for residents of Pauh District," he concluded.
