Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Directorate General of Corrections has relocated 612 high-risk inmates from various regional prisons to the Nusakambangan prison islandin Central Java between November 2024 and May 2025, Director General Mashudi said.
Speaking at a hearing with Commission III of the House of Representatives (DPR) on Wednesday (21/5/2025), he said that the transfer was aimed at mitigating repeated disturbances to security and order in several correctional facilities.
Mashudi also announced plans to transfer an additional 394 inmates from 17 regional correctional offices between May and July 2025.
In tandem with the transfers, nationwide prison raids from November 2024 to May 2025 have led to the seizure of thousands of contraband items, including 1,115 mobile phones, 2,291 electronic devices, and 2,880 sharp weapons.
