7 Brimob Officers Found Guilty of Ethics Breach in Fatal Armored Vehicle Incident

Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  The Indonesian National Police (INP) Internal Affairs Division declared that seven Mobile Brigade (Brimob) officers from Jakarta Metro Jaya Regional Police violated the police code of ethics in connection with the armored vehicle incident that killed an online motorcycle taxi driver during a protest on Thursday.

“Regarding those seven officers, it is confirmed that they have been proven to violate the police code of ethics,” said Inspector General Abdul Karim, the Head of the Internal Affairs Division,, at a press conference on Friday (29/8/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.

The officers have been placed under special detention for 20 days starting Friday, subject to extension if needed. Investigations are ongoing.

The incident occurred in the Pejompongan area, Central Jakarta, after police dispersed demonstrators near the House of Representatives (DPR) complex. INP Chief General. Listyo Sigit Prabowo has personally apologized to the family of victim Affan Kurniawan, who was killed in the tragedy.
