Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesia and Australia have reiterated their firm rejection of Israel’s planned annexation of Gaza, stressing that such actions violate international law and worsen the humanitarian crisis.
The stance was delivered in a joint statement released by Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade on Friday (29/8/2025)y
“The ministers reaffirmed their strong opposition to any attempt by Israel to make its occupation of Palestinian territory permanent, which the International Court of Justice has declared illegal and must be brought to an end,” the statement read, as quoted by antaranews.com
Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono, Minister of Defense Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, and Australia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Richard Marles also condemned Israeli measures to alter Gaza’s demographics. Both countries reaffirmed support for a two-state solution and welcomed Australia’s plan to recognize Palestine at the upcoming UN General Assembly.
The joint statement further urged compliance with international humanitarian law, protection of aid workers, a sustained ceasefire, prisoner exchanges, and expanded humanitarian access.
