Inp.polri.go.id - Serang.   The Banten Regional Police conducted a funeral prayer, known as salat ghaib, on Friday (29/8/2025) for Affan Kurniawan, an online motorcycle taxi driver who died after being run over by a Mobile Brigade (Brimob) armored vehicle during a protest in Jakarta on Thursday night. 

The prayer was held at Baiturrahman Mosque inside the Banten Police headquarters in Serang following the Friday congregation.

“This is a form of concern from the extended family of Banten Police. May the late Affan be forgiven of his sins, his good deeds accepted, and strength be granted to his grieving family,” said Banten Police Chief Brigadier General Hengki.

The solemn prayer was led by the mosque’s imam and attended by the regional police chief, senior officers, personnel, and worshippers. 

Banten Police also expressed condolences to the victim’s family. The event closed with prayers asking that Affan be granted the best place by God.
