Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. 929 Indonesian citizens evacuated from Sudan, North Africa, have returned to their homeland. According to a press release on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs official website, there were four evacuation phases.

"In the first phase, there were 385 people (evacuated), in the second phase there were 363 people (evacuated), in the third phase there were 74 people (evacuated), and in the fourth phase there were 100 people (evacuated). With the return of the fourth phase, a total of 929 Indonesian citizens have returned to their homeland," it stated.

After arriving back in Indonesia, the evacuees will stay temporarily at the Haji Pondok Gede dormitory before returning to their respective regions.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed its appreciation for the assistance provided by all related ministries and agencies, whose support was critical to the success of the evacuation and the domestic handling of the evacuees.

As previously reported, the evacuation was a response to the turmoil in Sudan since April 15, 2023, when violence erupted between the Rapid Support Forces (RFS) paramilitary and security forces in a power struggle.
