Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Migrant Worker Protection Abdul Kadir Karding revealed that around 95% of Indonesian migrant workers fall victim to cases such as trafficking, smuggling, and illegal employment practices.
"Based on our data, 90-95% of PMIs face problems like non-procedural employment, human trafficking, and intimidation," he said on Thursday (26/12/2024).
He emphasized the need for a stronger focus on improving the skills and capabilities of workers to meet the demands of international labor markets.
Currently, Indonesia only fulfills 287,000 of the 1.3 million procedural job placements available abroad, with a focus on skilled labor.
