Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura.  The Cendrawqasih Military Command in Papua confirmed a soldier has been detained after fatally shooting a civilian in Entrop, Jayapura, on Wednesday night.

“There was a shooting by a member of the Cenderawasih Military Police that killed a civilian. The incident stemmed from a misunderstanding and is now under investigation,” said Colonel Candra Kurniawan, the Head of Information for the Cendrawasih Military Command  on Thursday (4/9/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.

The victim died instantly at the scene after being shot in the waist around 11  pm local time. The alleged shooter, identified as Private TB, fled in a car but was arrested hours later in Koya Koso, Muara Tami District, at 12.23 am Thursday

The Military police have placed the soldier in custody pending further investigation.
