inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) Criminal Investigation Unit has begun investigating alleged illegal logging in Aceh. This case follows the recent landslide and flood disasters.
"Seven reports have been filed," said the Director of Specific Crimes of INP, Brigadier General Moh. Irhamni, on Tuesday (2/3/2026).
He explained that of the seven police reports, three were environmental crimes. The other four were suspected of illegal logging.
Previously, investigators from the Directorate of Specific Crimes of INP conducted cross-examination of logs found in Darul Mukhlisin, Aceh Tamiang. The logs were previously carried away by flash floods.
Irhamni stated that the investigative team traced the water flow that carried the logs. They were then determined to be the result of illegal logging.
"We believe the possible identifications are land clearing activities in protected forests, including the Serba Jadi Protected Forest and the Simpang Jernih Protected Forest," Brigadier General Irhamni told reporters on Tuesday (January 6, 2025).
