inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Member of Commission IV of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR), Rina Sa'adah, revealed that agricultural downstreaming is an important issue in discussing the revision of Law No. 18/2012 on Food.
According to her, this downstreaming program will provide added value to national agricultural products. In this downstreaming program, agricultural products are processed into high-value food products.
"The Working Committee (Panja) of the Food Bill received a lot of input from campus academics. One of our important points is how the downstreaming process of the food sector is our benchmark for increasing added value to food products," she said in an official statement, quoted by Antaranews, Jakarta, Saturday (5/17/2025).
Rina further states that there are many issues in revising this Food Law. Starting from agricultural human resources, agricultural technology innovation, institutional strengthening, to access to fertilizer for farmers.
"In terms of human resource empowerment, in Indonesia there are many agricultural graduates who can later provide technology and knowledge transfer to our farmers in the field, so that in terms of technological innovation there is also an increase," she concluded.
