Inp.polri.go.id - Cianjur. The Mount Gede Pangrango National Park Authority (TNGGP) will close all hiking routes starting 13 October 2025, to conduct a large-scale cleanup, evaluation, and management overhaul.

“The trails will reopen after all improvement stages are completed and will be officially announced on our website and social media channels,” said TNGGP Head Arief Mahmud on Saturday (11/10/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.

The closure affects Cibodas, Gunung Putri, and Selabintana entry points and applies to both domestic and foreign hikers. Registered climbers who have completed online bookings will be notified regarding refunds or rescheduling procedures.

Officials said the move aims to restore the park’s fragile mountain ecosystem, which has suffered from recurring waste problems due to heavy visitor traffic. The authority plans to implement a “Zero Waste Hiking Tourism” program and improve permit systems, basecamp facilities, and monitoring under the Siap Gepang integrated management platform.
