Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesia will continue exporting shrimp to the United States despite tighter import regulations from U.S. authorities, the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries confirmed on Saturday (11/10/2025).

“The restrictions apply only to certain companies and regions,” said Ishartini, the Head of the Ministry’s Agency for Fishery Product Quality Control and Safety. “One company in Cikande, Serang, was blacklisted following traces of radioactive Cesium-137, but its Medan facility can export normally.”

Shrimp processors in Java and Lampung may continue shipments to the U.S. if they obtain certificates proving their products are free from Cesium-137 contamination. The certificates are issued by the Ministry’s recognized quality assurance body, according to antaranews.com.

Data from KKP show 41 processing units are affected, consisting of 35 in Java and six in Lampung,  all eligible for export under the new certification rule. The Ministry is also linking its SIAP MUTU digital system with the U.S. FDA’s ITACS to streamline customs inspection and certification.
