Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  The Indonesian Army has prepared thousands of hectares of land across the country to strengthen the food supply chain for the government’s Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program, a flagship initiative under President Prabowo Subianto and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka.

“I’ve ordered soldiers to plant food crops, vegetables, and fruits on Army-owned land to support the MBG program,” Army Chief of Staff General Maruli Simanjuntak said on Saturday (1/1/2025), as reported by antaranews.com.

He noted that rising demand for poultry, eggs, and vegetables could drive up prices as the number of the Nutrition Service Unit (SPPG) kitchens expands. The Army has already cultivated land in several regions, including 206 hectares in Purwakarta, 300 in Cianjur, and 600 in Sukabumi.

The Army also trains young farmers and encourages local units to raise laying hens to ensure a steady food supply.
