The statement from the Head of the Operations Bureau (Karo-Ops) of the Bangka Belitung Police, Pol. Grand Commissioner Pontjo Soediantoko confirmed that the Kelabat Bay mine would be controlled.
"The control will be carried out by prioritizing persuasion first. This is following the policy of the Chief of Police. After that, new preventive measures will be carried out and adjusted to the provisions of the existing laws and regulations," said Chief Operational Bureau.
Based on an agreement meeting with the governor and Regional Police Coordination Forum, Pontjo said, the Kelabat Bay waters area must be free from illegal mining activities.
"The control of the Kelabat Bay illegal mine will involve a joint team of personnel from the Bangka Belitung Regional Police, West Bangka Resort Police, Bangka Resort Police, Naval base and the National Armed Forces," he urged.
On that occasion, Chief Operational Bureau added that miners would be given alternative locations following the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum policy. The particular mining area was given to miners, he said, is a new location and is not included in the PT Timah Mining Business Permit (IUP).
