Inp.polri.go.id - Badung. Bali Governor Wayan Koster announced on Wednesday (12/3/2025) financial incentives for babies named Nyoman and Ketut, starting in 2025, to preserve traditional Balinese naming customs.

With Hindu Balinese families favoring fewer children, the number of Nyoman and Ketut—typically third and fourth-born children—has declined to 19% and 6%, respectively. 

"If they disappear, we risk angering our ancestors," Governor Koster said during a regional meeting, as quoted by antaranews.com.

The incentives will cover education-related expenses such as books and uniforms, with schools assisting in data collection. The Bali government will also establish a policy team to ensure proper implementation.
