Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The National Food Agency (Bapanas) announced that starting February 2026, the public will be allowed to purchase up to five packs of SPHP rice per person as part of efforts to stabilize supply and prices nationwide.
SPHP rice is a government-managed medium-grade rice sold through markets by Bapanas and state logistics company Bulog to stabilize supply and control prices when market conditions tighten.
The policy applies after the current January limit of two packs remains in effect.
“This adjustment is aimed at improving public access and acceptance of SPHP rice in 2026,” said Bapanas Secretary General Sarwo Edhy on Friday (16/1/2026), as quoted by antaranews.com.
The agency explained that the new limit, which is equivalent to 25 kilograms per consumer, will take effect once the 2026 SPHP allocation of 1.5 million tons begins distribution, ensuring no gap in supply.
Bapanas and Bulog will oversee distribution across traditional markets, modern retailers, and participating institutions.
The policy comes amid expectations of rising national rice production ahead of the March and April harvest peak, which is projected to further stabilize prices. Authorities urged the public to report any quality issues found in SPHP rice sold on the market.
