inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Head of the National Food Agency (Bapanas) Arief Prasetyo Adi, conveyed the aftermath of the case of pesticide residue content exceeding the threshold in Shine Muscat grape products in Thailand and Malaysia.
Arief says that the government will increase strict supervision of imported fresh food commodities circulating in the Indonesian market. He emphasized that his party will continue to increase supervision of every imported food commodity.
"The National Food Agency as the Competent Authority for Food Safety (OKKP) is committed to protecting food safety in Indonesia. And continues to carry out strict supervision of imported fresh food commodities circulating in the domestic market, including grapes (Shine Muscat)," he explained.
Bapanas responded to the news about the results of the Thai authorities' inspection of Shine Muscat grapes from China.
"Regarding the news in the media about Shine Muscat grapes from China, Bapanas as OKKP will conduct further investigations," he said, as reported by the RRI page, Wednesday (10/30/2024).
Bapanas will soon make investments including sampling and laboratory testing processes. This is to ensure the safety of products circulating in the Indonesian market.
He said that one of Bapanas' authorities is to ensure that fresh food distributed is safe. This is based on Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 66 of 2021 which is a follow-up to Law 18 of 2012 concerning Food.
"Bapanas will continue to provide information related to fresh food safety transparently, in accordance with the applicable fresh food safety supervision procedures," he concluded.
