inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Environment (LH) Hanif Faisol Nurofiq will supervise and enforce the law if there are still parties violating the provisions on stopping plastic waste imports, which are planned to be implemented in 2025.
Minister Hanif says he will oversee the policy of stopping the import of plastic waste for recycling materials with supervision and law enforcement efforts carried out by the Ministry of Environment.
“We will enforce the law against those unlawful imports regarding this matter. We will charge them with articles prepared for them,” says Minister Hanif. "So I remind you all, that next year there will be no more plastic imports. Enough is enough, we have quite a lot of plastic and it is not managed well," continued Minister of Environment Hanif.
According to him, the ban on plastic waste imports will apply to all types, including those that are separated. For this reason, Minister of Environment Hanif invited all importers to contribute to efforts to resolve the issue of plastic waste in Indonesia by handling the issue in the upstream sector, instead of bringing in waste from abroad.
Importing waste is an unwise step, so those who seek profit from waste should work together to solve the problem of waste reduction and management in the country which will also ensure the availability of plastic and paper raw materials needed by the industry.
"Let's go down to the source of the waste problem and handle it together. You can get the benefit while your friends can profit from their business, and you can also benefit by reducing the pressure of waste in our country," said Minister of Environment Hanif.
