Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The National Food Agency (Bapanas) has designated its food assistance program as a primary economic stimulus to maintain household consumption and strengthen public purchasing power.
The initiative, providing free rice and cooking oil, is central to supporting national economic growth, which reached 5.61% in the first quarter of 2026.
"This food assistance program is one of the economic stimulus measures the government relies on," said Andi Amran Sulaiman, the Head of Bapanas and Minister of Agriculture, on Wednesday (6/5/2026), as cited by antaranews.com.
He confirmed that the Government Rice Reserve (CBP) remains robust, currently totaling 5.2 million tons.
During the first quarter of 2026, the program reached 1.85 million Beneficiary Families (KPM), distributing 37.1 million kilograms of rice and 7.4 million liters of cooking oil. Bapanas has extended the current distribution phase until 31 May 2026 to ensure the program meets its broader target of 33.2 million families nationwide.
